Week 1
June 1-6 | M-F | 9a - 3p
Devising  the play
Participants will work together, like in previous summers, to determine a topic, create scenes and develop characters.

Week 2 (Optional)
June 8-12 | M-F | 9a - 12p
Technical Theatre and Production Design
Participants may opt into a week of Technical Theatre and Production design workshops. In these sessions students will design, source and build sets, costume, sound and lighting designs for the play created in Week 1.

Week 3
June 15-19 | M-TH | 9a - 4p, FRIDAY 9-8p (performance at 7)
Rehearsal and Production
In this third week, participants will rehearse the play created in Week 1 and integrate production elements from Week 2 into a workshop production of their new play.

Registration for this schedule starts on 01/28/2026 and ends on 06/01/2026

Restrictions

Participants must currently be 12 years to 16 years old.

Description

New Expanded Camp for 2026!! 
This year, GirlSpeak (middle) is expanding to a 2 week camp with an optional 3rd week! YOU MUST SELECT WEEKS 1 AND 3, WEEK 2 IS OPTIONAL. This additional time allows participants to dig deeper into the subject matter of their play and provides a fuller production experience. The camp will include a public performance of their play.

GIRLSPEAK MIDDLE
Your stories, your way! Working to craft a play that explores ideas, issues and themes that matter to each of you, you all will be guided by LFL Teaching Artists in the same kind of collaborative playwriting techniques used in creating LFL's professional shows.  At a time in your lives when you may feel like few adults take you seriously, we want to give you the chance to express who you are and what is important to you, in a safe, trusting, fun environment.

This program is open to all youth of marginalized genders (i.e. girl, young woman, trans, non-binary)
